Ahval and CEFTUS to host panel on Turkey and region at London Labour Party Conference
Ahval news and the Centre for Turkey Studies (CEFTUS) are hosting a joint event analysing Turkey in light of the latest developments unfolding in its troubled region on Monday.
The panel titled ‘’The End of Democracy? The 'New Turkey' and a Region in Flux,’’ which will examine Turkey within the larger frame of neighbouring Iraq and Syria, as well its relationship with Kurds, will take place on the sidelines of the 2018 Labour Party Conference, one of the largest and most high profile political events in Europe.
Ahval editor-in-chief Yavuz Baydar will be joined by Ahval contributor and visiting scholar at the Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies Cengiz Candar, as well as human rights activist Nurcan Baysal and academics Dr. Ayse Zarakol and Dr. Arzu Yilmaz to discuss the significance of the latest developments in the region and what they mean for democracy.
