Born in 1969 in Istanbul, film critic Alin Taşçıyan studied Journalism in Istanbul University, and worked as a copyeditor, reporter and film critic for Turkish newspaper Milliyet's art service for 16 years, and wrote a column in Star for seven years. She also produced TV programmes about young directors and co-hosted "Sinema Büyüsü" with renowned film critic Atilla Dorsay for more than 10 years. She still writes for Turkish monthly magazines Paros and sanatatak.com. In addition to Turkish film festivals, she joined the Cannes, Berlin, Venedik, Montreal and Busan festival juries. She is a member of the European Film Academy and currently the president of International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
