Cameroon gives Gülenist schools to Turkey
Cameroon is the latest country to confiscate the educational network of the Fethullah Gülen movement in the country and hand it over to a foundation controlled by the Turkish state, state news agency Anadolu said.
Six schools in three cities were transferred to the Turkey Education Foundation, Turkish Ambassador to Yaounde Hüsnü Murat Ülkü told the agency.
“We explained to Cameroonian authorities that those who carried out this treachery in our country were also a threat to Cameroon,” Ülkü said. “They were also aware of this.”
The transfer of the schools had taken place after end-of-year exams in order not to disturb the academic year, Ülkü said.
The Turkey Education Foundation now operates over 100 schools worldwide, many of which used to belong to the Gülen movement, Anadolu said.
