Istanbul Quranic school teachers face 200 years for child rape
Turkish prosecutors have demanded over 200 years in prison for three men accused of sexually abusing at least six children at an Istanbul boarding school teaching Quranic studies.
The prosecutors have asked for up to 226 years in prison for three teachers charged with sexual abuse of the children at the Fıkıh-Der Association, an unlicensed Quranic studies boarding programme, news site Diken reported on Tuesday.
The school’s staff members were arrested in September following an investigation launched by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Prosecutor's Office prompted by complaints filed by a number of children at the school.
Reports by the alleged victims include detailed accounts of repeated rape, sexual misconduct and unlawful restraint.
The next hearing in the case is set to take place on Jan. 20, 2020.
