Colombia police in search for missing Turkish-Canadian professor

The Colombian police has been searching a Turkish-Canadian professor who went missing on Dec. 6 in Colombia's second-largest city Medellin, Turkish daily Star reported on Friday.

Professor Ramazan "Ramo" Gencay was last seen in Medellin a week ago, his wife told Canadian CTV News on Thursday. She said that she feared something bad had happened to Gencay and expressed suspicions for a foul play.

Gencay, a professor of economics at Simon Fraser University, was in Colombia for seminars at a local university.

He was last seen in surveillance camera video captured on Dec. 6, CTV said.

His passport and other belongings were found in his hotel room, after the Gencay went missing, Star said.
