Turkey using thermal cameras on Chinese visitors after virus outbreak
The Turkish airport authorities started using thermal cameras on Wednesday evening to scan passengers arriving from China as part of measures taken against the coronavirus outbreak, the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said on Friday.
The ministry convened a committee to decide appropriate measures against the outbreak on Wednesday, the minister said, adding that special quarantine rooms have also been prepared at international airports.
“Up to now, we have not detected any suspicious case in our scans,” state-run Anadolu Agency cited Koca as saying.
The minister also said that a Chinese tourist, who had applied to a hospital in Istanbul with suspicious symptoms, had returned to her homeland on Friday morning after 36 hours of monitoring. The woman came from Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak sweeping across the country.
