Turkey’s Aselsan to sell new naval gun system to 5 countries

Aselsan, Turkey’s top defence contractor, has signed deals with five countries to sell its newly developed 25-mm STOP remote-controlled stabilised naval gun system, Anadolu Agency reported on Friday.

The first tests of the system have been completed, Anadolu said. STOP is to be manufactured as a part of the remote-controlled gun systems Aselsan has been exporting to 18 countries, it said.

The agency said Aselsan signed deals to export STOP to five countries, but it did not disclose which countries have placed orders.

The system provides lightweight, versatile and effective means of force protection for applications ranging from capital ships to patrol craft, Aselsan’s website says about STOP.

Aselsan came 52nd in Defence News’s 2019 list of the world’s top 100 defence companies.
