Aselsan gets government contract for anti-missile systems
Turkey’s largest defence company, Aselsan, has signed a contract to produce a number of anti-missile systems, Defense News said.
“Aselsan said in a statement that the contract with Turkey’s defence procurement agency, the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, involves the serial production of an air-defence fire-control centre, modernised 35mm towed guns and air-defence systems, and 35mm airburst ammunition,” the military news website said.
“During the trials, the effectiveness of Aselsan systems against air-to-ground missiles was successfully demonstrated with a highly challenging test scenario,” it quoted the company as saying.
The new systems, together with the KORKUT air defence gun system, which is already in production, represent research and development milestones for the Turkish defence industry, Defense News said.
