Demirtas case: What additional pressures Turkey might face?

The European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday ruled that Turkey violated the right to speedy trial of pro-Kurdish politician Selahattin Demirtas, and called for his release.

Demirtas, a recent presidential candidate and one of Turkey’s best-known politicians, was sentenced to four years in jail on terrorism charges in September, after nearly two years in prison awaiting trial.

Andrew Gardner, a Turkey researcher for Amnesty International, talks to Ahval editor @dlepeska about the ECHR's Demirtas ruling and what additional pressures Turkey might face if it fails to abide by it.
