Turkey’s consumer confidence index drops further in December

Turkey’s monthly consumer confidence index dropped slightly in December, the fifth month in a row it has fallen, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.

The index, prepared by TurkStat, has dropped from 71.1 in August to 65.2 in November, and to 65.1 in December.

The index measures confidence within the range of 0-200, with a figure of above 100 indicating an optimistic outlook.

The indices on general economic expectations and household financial expectations recovered slightly.

The probability of saving index - of people’s expectation of earning enough money to save - dropped from 18 percent in November, to 17.5 percent in December.
