Turkish industrial turnover rises for fourth-straight month
Industrial turnover in Turkey increased 4.1 percent in October from the previous month, led by an expansion in non-durable consumer goods, according to an index published by the state statistics office.
Turnover of non-durables rose 7.5 percent compared with September, on a seasonal and calendar-adjusted basis, the office in Ankara said on Thursday. Turnover in mining and quarrying gained 5.3 percent and in intermediate goods 4.8 percent.
Durable consumer goods turnover slumped 13.4 percent, the statistics office said. The government had applied tax cuts on items such as washing machines and refrigerators that were due to end in September.
The statistics office previously reported a 0.7 percent month-on-month increase in industrial production for October. Output rose at a slower pace than the previous month, pegged back by an 18.5 percent slump in the production of durables, it said on Dec. 8.
