Turks more pessimistic about economy

Turkey’s population is increasingly pessimistic about the economy, according to a poll by the Dünya newspaper.

Fifty-three percent of people polled said the economy was the most important single issue, compared with 49 percent in the previous quarter. Dünya interviewed 1,500 people in 26 provinces of the country, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya.

Twenty-seven percent of respondents said they were optimistic about the future of the country, while 44 percent said they were pessimistic.
