Emre Deliveli, a former economist a Citi Istanbul and Director of Economic Studies at Ankara think-tank TEPAV, wrote for Hurriyet Daily News from 2008 to 2015 before becoming yet another Turkish press casualty. He then started writing for Today's Zaman before that paper itself became a press casualty by being taken over by the government. He continues to write op-eds on the Turkish economy and politics (with an economics twist). He is also a freelance consultant and part-time lecturer in Economics. Emre holds a B.A., summa cum laude from Yale University and undertook his Ph.D. studies in economics at Harvard University. Emre is a passionate ultramarathon swimmer, becoming the 14th Turk to swim the English Channel in August 2019, and the first Turk to swim from Robben Island to Cape Town in February. He hopes to complete the Ocean’s Seven once the corona pandemic is over.
