Erdoğan: Zarrab investigation is a plot against Turkey
The U.S. case on Iranian gold trader Reza Zarrab is a plot against Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was quoted as saying in Turkish news channel, CNNTürk.
They set up the biggest plot in history against our country in 17-25 December [2013 graft probe]. When we stood tall and that failed, they cooked the same trick up in the United States.
Speaking at his party’s group meeting at the parliament, Erdoğan claimed that accusations originate from “FETÖ,” the name given by Turkish government to the religious movement of the U.S.-based cleric, Fethullah Gülen, whom Erdoğan also holds responsible for the July 2016 coup attempt. Gülen denies any involvement.
In his speech, quoted by CNNTürk, Erdoğan accused FETÖ and PKK, the Kurdish group that waged an armed conflict again Turkish army in the southeast of the country, for all of Turkey’s troubles, including the recent crisis with NATO.
Erdoğan also criticised the U.S. policy in Syria, alleging that United States is sending “trucks loaded with weapons” despite Daesh (ISIS) is said to be finished with.
