Turkish, German police bring down criminal gang
Turkish and German police launched simultaneous operations on Wednesday to arrest 76 people in two countries suspected of being linked to a criminal gang, Hürriyet daily reported.
The gang has conned elderly Germans out of 3 million euros by presenting themselves as members of law enforcement, the daily said. The funds were later transported to Istanbul, it said.
The simultaneous operation started after Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) shared the intelligence it had gathered on the gang with Turkish police, Hürriyet said.
Turkish police have arrest warrants for 31 Turkish and five German nationals over their links to the criminal group, it said.
