Turkish political party has fun with Google Ads
New Turkish nationalist opposition party the Good Party has bought Google Ads for different search terms as part of a viral marketing campaign, secularist newspaper Sözcü said.
The party bought ads that appeared when users searched for their rival Justice and Development Party (AKP) or Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) that said “There is now something better”.
For the keyword “iktidarsızlık” (impotence), the party bought ads promising to solve users’ problems with “iktidar” (the government).
For a search on the term youths, the party’s ads said that the government had forgotten young people, while for freedom, they said “No results found – try again on June 25”: the day after the June 24 elections.
For searches about dream interpretations, the party’s ads promised to end the nightmare created by the present government.
Finally, searches for empty rooms came up with an advert offering Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s 1,150 palace as a “bargain”.
