“Erdoğan the only trustworthy leader in Turkey” – Greek FM
Greece should be working more closely with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the interests of both countries, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias was quoted by the Turkish conservative İhlas News Agency as saying.
“Erdoğan is the only leader in Turkey whose words can be trusted,” İhlas said Kotzias told the Greek parliament. “Whoever you meet with in negotiations, there is no one other than Erdoğan who will not go back on his word and who will not shrug off the responsibilities he has taken on.”
Kotzias also told parliamentarians that Erdoğan wanted to renegotiate the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne only in terms of Turkey’s eastern borders.
“If you want to discuss Turkish–Greek relations and you want to establish a peaceful coexistence between these two states, today Erdoğan is at the heart of government,” he said.
“We are unafraid of establishing a dialogue with Turkey.”
