Greece releases two Turkish servicemen arrested at border
Two Turkish military personnel who were arrested on Sunday for allegedly crossing into Greece illegally, have been released, Greek news site Kathimerini reported, citing a spokesman for the Greek army.
The two were trailing migrants to keep them from crossing into neighbouring Greece, but accidentally passed the border themselves, the Turkish military said.
The arrests took place along the border in northeastern Greece as the latest development in a string of incidents flaring tensions between Ankara and Athens.
In March, Turkey arrested two Greek soldiers, whom Greek officials maintain veered off course while on patrol near the border. The pair were released pending trial last month.
