Turkish prosecutor calls 4-year-old girl to give testimony as Gülen-linked suspect
A Turkish persecutor in the eastern province of Erzurum has launched an investigation into a 4-year-old girl over links to Gülen movement, a religious group Turkish government accuses of orchestrating a coup attempt in 2016, the Stockholm Centre for Freedom reported on Friday.
The prosecutor in Erzurum asked the public prosecutor in the southern province of Mersin, where the 4-year old Elif Zahide Tohumcu and her parents have been living, to take the little girl’s testimony and collect relevant evidence against her, the centre said.
Turkish government launched a purge against Gülen movement, in the aftermath of the coup attempt, by dismissing public servants over Gülen links and prosecuting the groups’s devotees, including top-rank soldiers, judges and prosecutors, journalists, and academics.
Gülen movement denies any involvement in the coup attempt.
