ISIS hid bombs in microwave ovens - terror police
Islamic State (ISIS) terror suspects hid bombs in microwave ovens and planned to return them to the shops they had bought them from before exploding them to cause shopping mall panic, Turkish anti-terror police said.
The microwave bombs, police said, were part of a three-step plan. After the microwave explosions had created an initial panic, the four apprehended ISIS suspects next intended to set off another 66 bombs they had brought with them to kill as many people as possible.
Finally, two of the suspects – an Austrian couple of Turkish-origin who had been living in Istanbul for the last five years – planned to put on suicide vests and slaughter emergency services responders.
Police caught the suspects in the car park of Istanbul Forum Shopping Mall in the district of Bayrampaşa on Turkey’s Oct. 29 Republic Day holiday.
