Suicide vest found in Turkish anti-ISIS operation
Turkish police found a suicide vest ready for use during police operations against suspected Islamic State (ISIS) militants across the country, pro-government Akşam newspaper said, showing that the threat of attacks has not yet been overcome.
Simultaneous raids co-ordinated by Turkish police and intelligence services at 33 addresses in Bingöl, Istanbul, Adana, İzmir and Kilis yielded 26 suspects, according to a written statement by the governor of Bingöl.
A 17-year-old was later released after giving a statement, while the other 25 are still in custody, the statement said.
Also found were explosives and other bomb-making equipment, three unregistered rifles, and $4,600 in hundred-dollar bills, the statement said.
