Turkish-origin U.S. teen arrested over ISIS links
An 18-year-old Turkish-origin man from Houston, Texas was arrested on charges relating to terrorism, distributing bomb-making instructions and support for the Islamic State (ISIS), U.S. television station CBS News said on Monday.
Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya told undercover FBI agents online that he had tried to get to Syria twice to join the jihadist group, and that he planned to carry out an attack in the United States if he was unable to join the group, it quoted the U.S. Justice Department as saying.
Damlarkaya also faces charges of teaching ISIS supporters online how to make explosives and pack them into makeshift pressure-cooker bombs, as well as how to build an assault rifle from spare parts.
He had said his dream was to be a martyr for the cause, the Justice Department said.
