Turkish police batter students protesting against price hikes in cafeteria

Turkish police dispersed university students price hikes in the university's cafeteria with batons after the group read their press statement on Thursday, Independent Turkish reported.

Students at Istanbul University's main campus in Beyazıt, a historical part of Istanbul, have launched a petition in protest against a rise in meal prices in the cafeteria, Independent Turkish said. 

And, the police attacked students with batons as they began marching to submit gathered signatures against price hikes to the university administration after they read their press statement, it said.
