“Islamic world must wake up to its true power” - Erdoğan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on the Muslim world to unite over the issue of Jerusalem in a prerecorded address sent to the annual joint convention of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) in the American city of Chicago, pro-government Sabah newspaper said.
“The Islamic world must wake up to its true power,” Erdoğan said.
“We must not allow anyone to come between us and divide us over our ethnic, sectarian or cultural differences.”
The overwhelming United Nations General Assembly vote to condemn the United States decision to move its Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem was a “victory”, Erdoğan said.
“This victory is a turning point in the struggle for rights, freedoms and justice,” he said.
Western journalists and politicians were turning a blind eye to racism and hate crime against minorities, Erdoğan added.
“Those who take every opportunity to teach other countries a lesson about democracy, law and human rights ignore the lawlessness lived out in their own countries,” he said.
