Trump unites Turkish parliament over Jerusalem

U.S. President’s Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city led to a rare consensus in the Turkish parliament, with all parties signing a statement condemning the action.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Kurdish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) signed a declaration which read:

Jerusalem is the heart of the Middle East, and seeks righteous freedom and peace among the three Abrahamic religions... Reserving its special status ensures a peaceful world.

The action taken by the United States, which has long remained committed to solving the Palestinian question and bringing peace and stability to the region as an arbiter, may trigger dangerous developments in the region, bringing conflict and causing human suffering.
