Two Turkish-Belgians arrested over Jerusalem demonstration
Two Turkish-Belgian dual-citizen tourists were arrested after refusing Israeli police requests to take off their Turkish flag T-shirts while trying to enter the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Turkish state broadcaster TRT said.
Abdullah Kızılırmak and Mehmet Kargılı, who had topped out their outfits with a keffiyeh and a fez, will face charges of resisting and hitting police today alongside Turkish citizen Adem Koç, who is charged with disturbing the peace and attending an illegal demonstration.
Israeli military interventions against protests on the Gaza border have left two Palestinians killed and 105 injured, TRT said.
The protests were sparked on Dec. 7, when U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his country would move its Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.
