Turkish cab driver indicted for long-hauling customers

The prosecution asked for three-to-ten years prison sentence for a Turkish taxi driver who allegedly long-hauled a customer, CNN Turk, a Turkish news channel, reported.

According to CNN Turk, the taxi driver who took advantage of the Saudi Arabia national, a tourist in Istanbul, by taking him on a long detour to the airport without his consent was indicted on aggravated fraud charges.

The indictment said that the suspect had abused the passenger's trust. If sentenced, the taxi driver may be put behind bars for three to ten years.

The defendant, who pleaded not guilty, in his defence stated that he was confused when he took the longer route.
