Lockheed-Raytheon to sell Javelin anti-tank systems to Turkey
Major U.S. defence contractors Raytheon and Lockheed Martin were awarded a contract for anti-tank Javelin missile systems under a foreign military sale, a US Department of Defense statement issued Feb 22, 2018, said.
The deal, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense and valued at more than $94.8 million, would provide France, Taiwan, Jordan, Qatar, Turkey and Lithuania with Javelin weapon systems, rounds, command launch systems and battery coolant unit spares, the statement said.
Work on the contract will be done in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by August 2020.
The announcement is reported by Gunes, Aksam and Vatan newspapers, none of them Islamist but all are firmly on the pro-Erdogan platform. Those are the very same papers which have been some of driving forces to lead anti-Americanism in Turkey.
