Denmark moves to prevent assassination of Turkish exiles – Swedish media

The Danish security service has moved opponents of the Turkish government in Denmark to safe houses after receiving tip-offs that there were to be attempts on their lives, Swedish Radio Ekot said

The Danish government believes that exiles, including members of the Gülen movement blamed for the 2016 failed coup, are being targeted for assassination attempts, Ekot said, but it did not want the information to become public in order not to affect diplomatic relations with Turkey.

At least three people were temporarily moved to the safe houses while the threat was dealt with, Ekot said, but the total number is unclear.

Other countries in western Europe are also believed to be concerned about possible assassination plots by the Turkish National Intelligence Agency (MIT), the radio station said.
