NATO had plan for civil war in Turkey - Yeni Şafak

NATO was preparing to provoke a civil war in Turkey during last year’s failed coup on July 15, 2013, according to a columnist at Turkish Islamist newspaper Yeni Şafak.

“July 15 was planned a lot differently than the normal coup processes. The ground for conflict was prepared so that it would lead to a civil war,” Hasan Öztürk wrote.

“This is because the eventual aim was for NATO to use the clashes as an excuse and occupy Turkey.”

The alliance had also considered using clashes between the Turkish government and the Kurdish-separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey’s Southeast as the pretext for an invasion of Turkey, Öztürk said, adding that every previous successful military coup in Turkish history had been masterminded by the U.S. together with NATO.

“Militarily, NATO is identifying Turkey as the enemy,” he said.
