Netherlands cuts ambassadorial ties with Turkey

The Netherlands decided to officially withdraw its ambassador to Turkey after the two countries failed to agree on the means to normalise their ties.

The ambassador, who has not had access to Turkey since March 2017, is officially withdrawn and a new Turkish ambassador will not be allowed to take up duties in the Netherlands, the Dutch government said in a statement on Monday.

This message has just been conveyed to the Turkish chargé d’affaires in The Hague and has brought a pause in the talks with Turkey, the statement read.
