Turkish far-right leader says UEFA investigation shows bias against Turkishness, Islam
Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the far-right Nationalist Movement Party, said on Friday the UEFA's investigation against the Turkish national football team reflected the bias over Turkishness and Islam, Gazete Duvar reported.
"The fact that UEFA investigates our national football players saluting soldiers under the pretext of provocative and political action is the prejudice and arrogance that has been carried against Turkishness and Islam for a long time," Bahçeli said.
The UEFA has launched an investigation against the Turkish national football team over a military salute to celebrate a goal in a game against France to show support to Turkey's recent military operation in northeast Syria.
Meanwhile, a Turkish football player from Germany's St. Pauli, Cenk Şahin was released from the football team after he shared a post on Instagram in support of Turkey's military offensive.
