Pakistan, Turkey to ink dual citizenship deal
Pakistan said on Thursday that it had been planning to sign a deal with Turkey to allow dual citizenship to nationals of the two countries, Anadolu Agency reported.
The announcement came after Turkey’s ambassador to Islamabad suggested signing a dual citizenship agreement between the two countries during a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister.
"In response to this, the minister said the draft is under consideration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on board with us. We hope to reach a mutual conclusion soon," Pakistan’s Interior Ministry later said in a statement.
Turkey and Pakistan’s relations have been bourgeoning in recent years, particularly due to expanded cooperation in defence.
