Rocket attack on Turkish customs vehicle kills one near Iranian border

A rocket attack killed one member of the Turkish security forces in eastern Turkey close to the border with Iran on Monday, state-run Anadolu news agency said.

It said the rocket was fired at a customs vehicle near Doğubayazıt and one soldier was later wounded by an explosive device in an operation begun after the attack.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in fighting between security forces and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which began an armed campaign for self-rule in the mainly Kurdish southeast of Turkey in 1984.
