Turkey to be special guest at Tehran International Book Fair
Turkey has been chosen as the special guest at the Tehran International Book Fair next April, the Daily Sabah reported.
The fair’s policy board chose Turkey as the guest of honour for the 10-day exhibition, which kicks off on Apr. 14.
Next year’s Tehran book fair will be the 33rd since it was inaugurated in 1987. It is considered the event with the broadest participation in the region, with some 3,500 domestic and foreign publishers taking part, Daily Sabah said.
The choice of Turkey as a special guest came weeks after the managing director of Istanbul’s International Book Fair expressed his sadness at Iran’s absence from his country’s event and urged the country to attend the next one.
The director of the Tehran International Book Fair, Qader Ashna, responded that Tehran was ready to attend Turkish provincial exhibitions, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported.
