Turkey signs tech transfer deal with Qatar
Turkish defence contractor Aselsan has signed a partnership with Qatari counterpart Barzan Holding for the joint production of weapons systems together with technology transfer, pro-government newspaper Daily Sabah said.
The deal, which the parties christened “Barq”, meaning lightning in Arabic, was signed at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference, which was attended by Turkey’s defence minister and chief of staff.
It will mean the joint production of Aselsan’s Stabilised Advanced Remote Weapon System as well as reconnaissance and surveillance systems.
Barzan also signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkey’s Defence Industry Undersecretariat for exploring the possibilities for other joint defence projects with Turkish firms, the newspaper said.
