Erdoğan’s approval rating dropped in August - pollster

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s job approval rating fell by 8.6 points to 44.5 percent, according to pollster Metropoll’s August ‘Turkey’s Pulse’ survey.  

Erdoğan’s approval rating was as high as 53.1 precent in July following the elections held on June 24, which marked Turkey’s transition to executive presidential system. 

92.6 percent of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) supporters approve Erdoğan, while his approval rating among his ally Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) voters is 68.6 percent.

In recent years, Erdoğan’s popularity was lowest during the period of June 2015 elections with an approval rating of 37.5 percent, while his job approval hit 67.6 percent in the aftermath of a failed coup attempt in 2016.
