Jailed students who carried Erdoğan caricatures invited to tea with president
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has invited four students detained for a month for holding a banner depicting caricatures of him to tea, the SuperHaber said television channel said.
The students from Ankara’s Middle East Technical University were receptive to the offer, SuperHaber said. During their 2018 graduation ceremony, the four students held up a banner with depicting Erdoğan as an elephant, camel, a frog and other animals.
They were freed on Monday pending trial on charges of insulting the president and could face up to four years in jail if convicted.
