Turkey’s Erdoğan offers lion cubs to grandchildren
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wanted to give his grandchildren three lion cubs gifted to him on his Africa tour, but their parents objected to it, liberal news site T24 said
“The two of them are each one-year-old, one female and one male,” Erdoğan was reported as telling journalist Cengiz Er. “The third is eight months old.”
“I wondered if my grandchildren might like them … they first said ‘no’, then started saying ‘bring them’.”
However, Erdoğan’s son-in-law, Energy Minister Berat Albayrak, opposed the gift.
“But Berat rightly said that these might be dangerous. They’re lions, after all! They’ll be sent to Gaziantep (zoo),” Erdoğan said.
“There are also gazelles. The gazelles are coming with us,” he said.
