Migrants at Turkish border throw petrol bombs at Greek police
Migrants gathered at Turkish-Greek border threw petrol bombs at Greek police and tried to pull down the border fence to enter Greece on Wednesday, the Greek Reporter said.
The Turkish decision to grant migrants free passage to Turkey’s border with Europe has led to sometimes fierce clashes with Greek security forces as tens of thousands have attempted to gain entrance to the country since late last month.
"It is still unclear whether the situation has now calmed down or not, but it is obvious that the Turkish side is not attempting to do what is needed to contain the throngs of migrants at the gates of Europe," the Greek Reporter said.
Turkey and Greece accuse each other of mistreating migrants and using them as political pawns.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday likened the Greek authorities’ treatment of migrants to the German Nazi Party’s crimes against humanity.
