Turkey’s military chief sponsors 750-person mosque
Turkish Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar is to build a mosque outside the city cemetery in his hometown of Kayseri, Hürriyet said.
Akar and his family “did not want to publicise this charitable work,” Kayseri Mayor Mustafa Çelik said.
“The philanthropist here is our Chief of Staff General Hulusi Akar. We want to thank him.”
The mosque, which will be used for the funerary prayers for those to be buried in the nearby cemetery, will include Seljuk motifs, and have room for 750 people, the newspaper said.
