Turkish state news agency begins automatic newswriting
Turkey’s state news agency has announced that some of its articles will be automatically written by an algorithm designed to analyse data the moment it comes out, according to Haberler news website.
“We use smart technologies to automatically write news,” Information and Communication Technologies Director Yakup Şıvka told the 2nd Public Sector Informatics Conference.
The technology was being used most often during elections, Şıvka said, when data could be automatically interpreted and used to fill news templates.
The company was also investing in automated broadcasting technology, he added.
“We are building new local and national applications in the field of live broadcasting,” he said. “We are establishing the infrastructure so that when needed, we can take images from cameras without the need for a reporter, transfer them to our live environment, and from there live to television channels.”
