Hundreds dead on Turkish side in Syria battles - report
Hundreds of soldiers of the Turkish military and Free Syrian Army (FSA) have died since Turkey began an offensive against Kurdish forces in northern Syria three weeks ago, Al-Masdar News (AMN) said.
The total death toll is approaching 200, data from Syrian opposition-leaning war monitoring groups showed, according to the media group, known to be close to the Syrian government.
Between 150 and 200 Kurdish fighters have also died in the hostilities, the monitoring groups said.
Anti-tank missile strikes and hit-and-run attacks have caused the most casualties on the Turkish side, while Turkish air power and artillery have been the main cause of Kurdish losses, AMN said.
Turkey's military said on Monday that 31 soldiers have been killed and 143 wounded in the incursion since operations began on Jan. 20. It did not provide data for the number of FSA fighters killed.
