Turkey finds graves of hundreds of Kurdish fighters in Afrin

Turkey has discovered the graves of hundreds of Kurdish fighters in a graveyard in the Syrian city of Afrin, Hurriyet newspaper reported.

The graves, complete with the photos of some of the fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) were discovered after Turkey and militants of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) took over the city on Sunday, the newspaper said.

Turkey launched a military incursion into the Afrin region of Syria on Jan. 20 to tackle fighters of the YPG, a group it says is indistinguishable from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a group seeking  autonomy in Turkey and labelled as terrorist by the United States and European Union.
