Meet Bahtiyar Duysak, the man who closed Trump’s Twitter account

The former Twitter employee who closed down U.S. President Trump’s Twitter account has revealed himself for the first time – and he turns out to be a German of Turkish origin.

“I didn’t hack anyone. I didn’t do anything that I was not authorized to do,” Bahtiyar Duysak told TechCrunch. “I didn’t go to any site I was not supposed to go to. I didn’t break any rules.”

On his last day working for Twitter, someone reported Trump’s account, and Duysak chose to deactivate it. He never thought that it would actually happen, he said.

Trump’s Twitter account was only down for 11 minutes, but even that was enough for some to jokingly nominate him for Time’s person of the year.
