Turkey to double tourism advertising budget in 2020

Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism plans to increase the funds spared for tourism advertisement to $180 million in 2020 from $72 million this year, Anadolu Agency reported on Friday. 

According to the ministry’s draft budget discussed in the Turkish parliament’s budgetary commission, Turkey plans to increase passenger traffic from distant destinations in 2020 and will try to offer tourists visiting the country more alternatives by grouping destinations in Turkey according to their cultural, archaeological and gastronomic characteristics.  

The number of tourists who visited Turkey increased by 14.47 percent in the first 10 months of 2019 compared to the same period last year, reaching 40.72 million.
