Turkish police detain Kurdish musician and rights activist
Turkish police on Sunday detained Kurdish musician and rights activist Ferhat Tunç at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.
Tunç announced his detention on Twitter. "They (police) said I am sought by the police and took me into custody at the airport while I was coming back from Germany," he said.
He was taken to Bakırköy Courthouse on Monday after the airport police interrogated him, according to Russian news outlet Sputnik. There is no further detail on his detention.
Tunç was a deputy candidate for the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the general elections of June 2018.
