Turkey seeks post-Brexit deal with Britain, trade ministry says
Turkey's Trade Ministry said it was seeking new trade agreements with Britain during the Brexit transition period that last until the end of the year.
Britain formally left the European Union on Jan. 31, but London will remain in the EU customs union until Dec. 31, 2020, and its trade terms with EU members and Turkey will not change during this period.
The Turkish trade ministry said on Saturday Turkey and Britain would discuss a bilateral free trade deal through existing working groups formed between two countries.
The countries have been considering a future bilateral trade agreement to keep existing deals intact and minimise disruptions for importers and exporters.
Britain has the second-highest bilateral trade volume with Turkey, with Turkish exports exceeding $11 billion and annual trade volume worth more than $20 billion.
