Erdoğan promises prosperity for post-pandemic Turkey in Eid message

Turkey’s power, prosperity and welfare will be elevated to “much higher levels” in the post-pandemic world, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Saturday in a video message celebrating the Eid al Fitr.

The coronavirus pandemic has put humanity through a tough trial, through which Turkey has emerged strong, Erdoğan said.

“If we comply with measures of masks-distancing-hygiene, God willing, we will get past this process with our honour,” he said.

Turkey has met its own needs, and offered a helping hand to many friendly nations, Erdoğan said, while many other countries closed themselves off and held on tightly to whatever resources they had. “We have shown our humanity as a nation in a world where many spoke of a global solidarity but few acted on it,” he said.

The world will see a political and economic restructuring after the pandemic, Erdoğan said, repeating a sentiment he has expressed frequently.

Turkey has delivered 12 billion liras ($1.76 billion) to some 10 million citizens as grants throughout the pandemic, Erdoğan said.

“I pray to God that he delivers us to the next Ramadan with health, wellbeing and peace,” Erdoğan said.
