Nearly 900 Ankara health personnel infected with coronavirus, group says
The number of healthcare workers in the Turkish capital Ankara that have contracted COVID-19 is 882 as of Sept. 16, Ankara Medical Chamber (ATO) said on Wednesday.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Tuesday that 29,865 healthcare workers had tested positive across the country and 52 of them died after contracting the coronavirus since March 11 when Turkey reported its first case of COVID-19.
ATO said the number of healthcare workers who died of the coronavirus was far higher than has been officially reported, saying that 90 died according to the data ATO obtained through doctors on the ground.

"The number of infected healthcare professionals is around 10 percent of all positive cases across the country," CNN Türk cited the group as saying.
Turkish medical associations have been criticising the government's coronavirus response, saying that the lack of protective equipment for doctors had left health workers treating coronavirus patients in some cases without medical masks and gloves.
